Employee Spotlight: Shreejit Nair

In this edition of Employee Spotlight, meet Shreejit, Delivery Lead at SpotDraft. A recent CX Retro award winner who has been with the company for nearly five years, Shreejit has transitioned from an individual contributor into a trusted team leader. Combining a deep background in technical support with a formal legal education, he brings a unique intersection of skills, a strong sense of ownership, and an incredibly generous heart to the SpotDraft family.

What is your role at SpotDraft, and how would you introduce yourself?

I am currently the Delivery Lead managing the team for our region. My journey here has been an incredible learning curve. I started out as an Associate, moved up to Senior Associate, then Lead Consultant, and now I am the Delivery Lead

The coolest part of my time here has been watching the product evolve. Back when I started, things weren’t nearly as automated. We used to code templates and handle migration projects manually, I remember manually coding SpotDraft's very first Master Services Agreement (MSA) migrations! Now, the platform is so intuitive that users can easily build complex workflows through simple question-and-answer setups. My role is about guiding my team, ensuring we deliver high-impact results with every milestone, and evolving alongside the product every single day.

How did you get into legal operations, and what drew you to SpotDraft?

I actually started working back in 2017 doing night shifts in technical support for an US based company - Allstate, Amazon while simultaneously pursuing my law degree. I did a five-year integrated law course, and by my second year, I knew I wanted to earn my own stable income and be independent.

Initially, my goal was to get into core litigation, specifically criminal litigation, which has always been a field of interest for me. I even tried it out, but practicing in the courts became incredibly challenging when the pandemic hit. I needed a stable income, but I still wanted to leverage my legal education. While researching, I found SpotDraft and realized it was at the absolute intersection of legal and technology, which is undeniably the future. Traditional legal paths are shifting, and legal operations are a massive, established space globally. SpotDraft gave me a chance to bridge those two worlds perfectly.

You’ve been through all of SpotDraft's phases, funding rounds, office moves, and restructures. How has that journey been?

It has been a lot of fun, to be honest. I’ve seen us transition from working from home, to our old office, and finally to our brand-new space. What I appreciate most about our growth is our approach to scaling: with every fundraise we’ve secured, the company has made sure we are delivering an equally impactful output. We take feedback continuously and build with a quantitative focus, ensuring that whatever we create brings measurable value and helps the organization scale. It keeps you on your toes, but it makes the journey incredibly rewarding.

In a high-performance environment like SpotDraft, how do you balance work and life?

To be completely honest, moving from my hometown of Pune to Bangalore two years ago meant leaving my core friend circle behind, so there are definitely days where I just go home and keep working! But when I really need to ground myself, I look entirely outward.

Since 2011, I’ve been deeply involved in grassroots social work and volunteering with various NGOs. It’s something that centers me. My close group of friends and I support an organization that provides food and medical care for stray dogs, and another that looks after the well-being of leprosy patients. We also work closely with an NGO that supports specially-abled and mentally challenged children, and another that funds the education needs of families living in poverty in rural Maharashtra. Once a month, we pool resources to fill the entire monthly grocery and ration requirements for local ashrams, and during major festivals, we organize blood donation drives and medical camps. Helping others is what truly recharges my batteries.

What do you think sets SpotDraft apart from more traditional corporate environments?

The big differentiator is true ownership and cross-functional visibility. In massive MNCs, your role is heavily siloed and structured; you have a very limited scope of work, and lateral movement is incredibly difficult.

At SpotDraft, even when I was an L1 associate, I was directly collaborating with the engineering team, product support, implementation, and customer success. The scope is never restricted. You learn exactly how the smallest piece of data migration you do impacts a client's daily workflow. We create an environment where we can save a legal team hours of manual work just by optimizing how they access their contract metadata. Everyone here is deeply accountable for their work, but you're never caged into a corner—the doors are always open for open conversations across any department.

If SpotDraft’s culture were a song or movie, what would it be?

Our office is basically a live-action episode of The Office, blending Michael Scott's chaotic energy with Dwight Schrute's fierce dedication to get things done. No matter how crazy the workload gets, we always keep each other laughing and back each other up like true Jim-and-Pam duos. I genuinely wouldn’t trade this brilliant, hilarious work family for any other team out there!

What advice would you give to new joiners stepping into the Legal Ops space?

  • Never stop being a student: On my very first day of law school, our principal told us something that completely redefined how I look at my career: “You have enrolled yourself to become lawyers, and the life of a lawyer means being a student until the end of your life.” Law and technology are both changing dynamically. You have to be deeply open to continuous learning.
  • Embrace the shift from traditional legal thinking: Law schools don’t teach you how to deal with AI, CLMs, or automation. You have to actively explore these systems on your own. Step onto the floor ready to learn new things, ask questions, and adapt quickly.
